And Then He Reminds Us

Jesus knows the truth of our scars and stories; He knows the pieces still in need of mending. He hears those bruised places within us calling out for His gentle touch, even when we can’t.

He already sees us eye-to-eye and heart-to-heart. He's already reaching for us through grief, anger, fear, and disappointment. He's already piercing through the weariness, hardship, and struggle.

Yes, He walks right into our full-blown shambles, right into the messiness and vulnerability of it all, and He finds us on the floor in our dark night of the soul.

He gets down and pulls us ever so tightly into His kindness and compassion. He lets us kick and scream and cry and let it all out. He allows us to feel our deep ache, and He feels it right along with us.

And then He reminds us.

In the isolation of our pain and suffering, He reminds us He is the God of all comfort.

In the devastation of our hearts and dreams, He reminds us He has plans to give us hope and a future.

And in the long, cold, grey winters of our lives, when it feels like the sun will never shine again, and we aren't even sure if we'll make it, He reminds us He is the resurrection and the life.

He knows how to rightly hold us in our brokenness and ashes while loving and strengthening us in His truth and grace.

Beloved, He knows how to be in this place with you.

He's there, with you, intentionally.

Lean into Him because He is surely leaning towards you.

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He lets me rest in green meadows; He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to His name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for You are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Surely Your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed. Psalm 34:18
