Journeying Through Chronic Illness To Healing and Wellness: Update 3

In the early days of my illness, personal blogging wasn't popular and Facebook and Twitter didn't even exist. Hard to imagine now, I know. I've often wondered what it would have been like to have had those outlets back then. Perhaps it was for the best we didn't because those were some really rough times, and I might have scared everyone off.

Nevertheless, here we are many years later and I am now able to share such things with you through this blog and social networking, just as you are able to share with me.

Thanks to all of you for following along as I continue my healing journey; it's both exhausting and exciting. I want you to know I truly appreciate your prayers and support. So many of you - family, friends, and even strangers who've become new friends - have left loving and encouraging comments here, and on Facebook and Twitter. Some of you have sent emails, and some have sent cards. I want you to know it all means something to me, so thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I'm now in the sixth month of my treatment protocol and some changes are starting to take place. Many days are difficult, although some are easier than others. However, perseverance is the key - in this protocol, and in continuing to make healthy choices and running the race set before me.

We are specifically targeting the bacteria that cause Lyme disease, and some of the co-infections that accompany it as well. This is what makes chronic Lyme so complex and complicated - the process of not only dealing with all of the long-standing infections but also the damage and dysfunction they have created in the body, in my body. It's like peeling an onion. We peel back and deal with one layer only to find several more revealed beneath.

So it goes, and it can be overwhelming and tedious work. Still, we are on the right track. Since my last health update in January, I have had three pretty good days I've not had in a very long time. Now, I know "three pretty good days" might not sound like something spectacular to a lot of people, but for me, it was indeed a big deal!

So as we continue on, I'd like to specifically ask you to pray for my endurance. I think that's the most important thing right now.

Also, in closing, I want to share something I realized a few months ago and think is quite amazing, or at least it is to me.

God performed His word on my behalf by revealing what I did not know. Meaning, He made known the true root of this chronic, debilitating illness I've lived with for so long after being misdiagnosed all these years. You cannot possibly begin a healing process if you don't know what you're dealing with in the first place.  Personally, I'm pretty stoked about it because I've worked so hard and waited so long for this very thing, and the Scriptures say He will do it.

"He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with Him" (Daniel 2:22 NIV).

"For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open" (Mark 4:22 NIV).

If God disclosed the truth of what has been making my body sick for so long, and He did, then He's true to His Word. And If He's true to His Word, and He is, then healing is coming, just like He told me it would.

I pray this can be an encouragement to someone who might also be seeking and searching for your own answers. Or perhaps for somebody who might be holding on while waiting for something to change.

Please don't ever give up, friends. I know the road is often long and hard, gut-wrenching even, but I can attest He is faithful and trustworthy. He can help keep and preserve you through things you don't think or feel you'll survive.

With hope,

Michelle
